John R. Vaught

John R. Vaught, 60, of Stewartstown RD3, Pa., a logging contractor, died Saturday, Feb. 5, in York Hospital. He was the husband of Jean Bush Vaught.

Born in Crumpler, NC, he was the son of the late Jacob F. and Emma Jane McMillian Vaught.

A self-employed logging contractor, he was an overseas veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7046, of American Legion Post 455, of Stewartstown Gun Club, of Hopewell Fish and Game Association and the Savage Gun Club.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Vaught is survived by a son, Sherman F. Vaught of Stewartstown, Pa.; three daughters, Mrs. James H. Trout, Jr. and Mrs. Glenn Fix both of Stewartstown, Pa. and Mrs. John E. Yarema, Jr. of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; a sister, Lilace Martin of Pylesville and three brothers, Clarence G. Vaught, Jay S. Vaught and Archie R. Vaught all of Stewartstown, Pa.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 2pm from the Kenneth W. Orsburn Funeral Home Inc., Stewartstown, Pa. with the Rev. Edward M. Andrews, Jr. pastor of St. Paul'’ Lutheran Church, Rinely, Pa.

Interment was in Mount Pleasant Lutheran Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 455 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7046.

Serving as pallbearers were Cecil Cross, William Kunkle, Steve Miller, Sam Harry, Paul Bartenslager and Frank Lambert.
