Dorothy Mae Vaught

Dorothy Mae Vaught, 77, of Aberdeen died Sept. 2 at Harford Memorial Hospital.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Aberdeen and the Aberdeen Golden Age Club.

Mrs. Vaught was a foster parent to numerous children for 20 years, receiving an award from the county.

She was born in Lockport, NY, daughter of the late Sarah Layton and George Steven Groak, Sr. Her husband, Dennis E. Vaught, Sr. died in 1985.

She is survived by two sons, Dennis E. Vaught, Jr. of Fredericksbury, VA and David A. Vaught of Aberdeen; two daughters, Brenda Rice of Bel Air and Shirley Gray of Everett, Wash., seven grandchildren; one brother, George S. Groak, Jr. of New Burn, NC; one sister, Elsie White of Highlands, NJ, and foster children, Pauline Denk of Robertsdale, Ala., Debra Daniel of Havre de Grace, Shirley Rose of West Virginia and Ruth Ann Clark of Elkton.

Services will be held 10am Friday, Sept. 6 at Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home, PA, Aberdeen, with Dr. John M. Gauger officiating. Burial will be in Bel Air Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, Sept. 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
